Sifu
Richie Carrion is the chief instructor and Coach/Founder of JKD-EXTREME
Martial Arts Academy, in West Palm Beach FL. He is also an instructor
under One of the most known Jeet Kune Do Instructors in the JKD
Community Sifu Tim Tackett.
Sifu Carrion put together a competition team for his students
that wanted to compete. It was hard at first because Jeet Kune
Do is not a sport!
It is based on strictly self defense,so allot had to be modified
so they could compete.. The team is been together almost one year
now. And doing very well competing against great schools. I can't
believe how well the team has been doing against some great competitors,
I'm very proud of them. They really had to adapt to doing sport
fighting.
What I teach the team is a quote Bruce Lee once said, "To
Take What Is Offered You". We don't have one way of grappling
or standing. We use no way as our way. They use a variety of things
that I teach them thru the years of my training in Jeet Kune Do
and other arts I trained in the past. And some of my own moves
that I created. So far they have worked very well helping them
to win. The team looks forward to compete in any event they can.
They just love the challenge!
The JKD-EXTREME team has competed in the following:
NAGA (New Jersey), Copa Kimura, World Grappling ASSOC., U.S. OPEN
WORLD MARTIAL ARTS IN DISNEY (JKD -EXTREME was the team grappling
champions 2003), Battle By The Beach FL., NAGA FLORIDA,
Rumble in the Dome (winter Haven FL), and Tigers World Grappling.
I like to thank Kipp Kollar from Naga for helping my team get
established in the grappling submission world.
Thank you.
Also like to thank James from Viper Fight Wear for the great team
uniforms!
As Bruce lee once said the "Simple done right has no counter".
JEET KUNE DO THE WAY OF THE INTERCEPTING FIST.
